Initial Problem

  • Exhibition opening at Kunstverein Heidelberg is approaching
  • Existing network visualization does not work on touch device for art exhibition.

Testimonial by Henry Keazor

The 17 guest books of the Heidelberg art collector Franz Moufang (1893-1984) document an impressive network that he established – not least with the help of the guest books themselves – from 1917 onwards between eminent artists, writers, musicians, cultural actors, politicians and other personalities of his time.
In an exhibition shown at the Heidelberger Kunstverein from June 10 to August 8, 2023, 12 stations provide an insight into individual aspects of this network, which extended as far as the USA. At the end of the exhibition visitors should be given the opportunity to explore this network interactively. Both the clear presentation of the network and its exploration were only possible with the help of a digital presentation on a touch screen. The available visualizations unfortunately had the disadvantage that they did not run on the touchscreen resp. were not touch-sensitive. Here Dominic Kempf and Gwydion Daskalakis from the Scientific Software Center provided invaluable help to us by finding the ideal solution for the exhibition display in a very short time.
