The selection of open-call projects and SSC Fellows Open Call and SSC Fellows 2026

The new open call projects that are supported by the SSC from July 2026 - June 2027 have been selected. Many very high-quality proposals have been submitted, and after technical and scientific review, seven projects will be realized:

• Mutual gaze tracking and video analysis, Digital Humanities, German Department (Danny Dirker)
• SEVN single and binary star evolution simulator, Physics, Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics (Cecilia Sgalletta)
• Agentic interface to papyrology database, Digital Humanities, Institute for Papyrology (Holger Essler)
• Performant analysis of high-content imaging datasets, Medicine, Infectious Diseases Imaging Platform (Alessandro Ulivi)
• Classifier for spectra of galaxies, Physics, Astronomisches Rechen-Institut (Igor Zinchenko)
• Usability of hydrological model for water availability, Earth Sciences, Institute of Geography (Lucas Menzel)
• DELight dark matter detector, Physics, Kirchhoff Institute for Physics (Belina von Krosigk)
