Excursion to Volume Graphics

The SSC organized an Excursion to Volume Graphics, with students from the Mentoring Program and the SIAM student chapter Heidelberg. At VG, we learned about the complexities of developing and distributing software for industrial applications, working in multiple teams on the same code base simultaneously, and challenges in handling growing volumes of data. The software that is being developed and maintained at VG, VGSTUDIO has grown over the last 20 years and consists of legacy code and new features. VGSTUDIO provides analysis and metrology for industrial computed tomography data for a very wide range of applications. New features are being implemented in agile workflows with user requests triggering the new developments. Check out VG’s social media profiles and YouTube channel for some cool examples!
