We reach out to make scientific software recognized

Research Software Engineering is crucial in carrying out modern research, but the contributions to scientific software are often not recognized as academic contributions.

The SSC is an active member in the de-RSE community, the collective spokesperson for RSEs in the German academic landscape, that is pushing for a change in the recognition and handling of research software.

At the local level, the SSC collaborates with relevant service providers within Heidelberg University, such as the Competence Center for Research Data, the University Library, the Heidelberg Center for Digital Humanities, and the university computing center.

Research software usually requires research data. An appropriate management of research data and research software is crucial in ensuring reproducibility and sustainability. We support researchers in Research Software Management coordinating our efforts with the existing Research Data Management service providers.
